Mainstream media in South Africa has organised itself as a monopoly which seeks to sway views and dominate narratives of ordinary South Africans. The Red Pen is viable and decisive project to open up the space for alternative voices and narratives.

Keeping with the advancement of Social Media, the Red Pen taps into an otherwise formalised and restricted arena, by giving ordinary South Africans from all walks of life, a pen and voice to share their ideas and narratives.

We invite all South Africans, with a special emphasis on the youth, to submit their written pieces to be shared and published. One may write about anything of public interest. Assuring genuineness and authenticity.
